How does EMS work?

EMS (Electro Muscular Stimulation) works by sending low-frequency electrical impulses to manually contract your muscles while you exercise, thereby increasing the intensity of your workout and activating 98% of your body’s muscles for a highly effective and efficient full-body workout.

Is EMS safe?

Yes, EMS is completely safe.

It has been thoroughly scientifically researched and the technology has been around for decades. Previously EMS was used for both rehabilitation and localized performance enhancements, but within the last 14 years, has developed into a full body training technology, putting the power of a professional workout within everyone’s reach.

Your classes are always taken by an experienced and certified EMS Personal Trainer.

The electrical stimulation can go no deeper than your skeletal muscles, ensuring that you get a great workout, without ever reaching your cardiac muscle or organs.

Our classes are low volume (max 4 people per class) and low impact (easy on the joints).

What are the Contra Indications for EMS training?

Ladies who are pregnant or anyone who has a pacemaker will unfortunately not be able to train with us. Certain neurological disorders are also contra indicative.

How many classes should I do per week?

This all depends on a few factors.  If you are not doing any other form of exercise and have some way to go before achieving your ideal fitness and body goals, then you should do 2-3 EMS classes per week.  But if you are already in fairly good shape and also do some other form of other exercise then 1 EMS Class per week is enough. Your Body20 Coach will recommend the ideal number of classes you should attend based on your Body Composition Analysis.

Can I also do other forms of exercise in conjunction with EMS?

Absolutely!  EMS works well with other forms of cardio if you have time, especially if you need to reach certain fitness or body goals within a specific timeframe.   If you value your time, it is also possible to only use EMS training as you are able to take up to 3 classes per week and this will give you fantastic results combined with a healthy lifestyle.

What makes Body20’s training different?

Body20 utilises Electro Muscular Stimulation (EMS) to provide a full-body workout in just 20 minutes, equivalent to the results of a traditional 4 – 5 hour gym session. This innovative approach is perfect for those with busy schedules who still want to prioritise their health and fitness.

Furthermore, we make use of the latest EMS technology available on the market currently. It is DRY, eliminating the need for us to wet our clients and have them wear a wet & smelly suit; and it is WIRELESS, therefore there are no limitations on our EMS workouts or the type of exercises we can use.

What makes Body20’s service offering unique?

Not only do we tailor make each workout to ensure our clients achieve their own specific body & fitness goals by making use of the latest Dry, Wireless EMS technology but our discerning clients also benefit from Eating Plans from our in-house Nutrition Doctor and weekly InBody scans to accurately track their progress.

What happens in a typical Body20 Class?

Body20’s classes are designed to be low-impact and easy on the joints, making them accessible for anyone and everyone. Members wear a wireless, electrode-enabled bodysuit that connects wirelessly to the EMS device, using the latest dry patented technology, which eliminates the need for water and having to wear a wet, smelly suit. Our classes are kept small, with a maximum of four participants, to ensure personalized attention and fun, interactive environment. During the 20-minute class, the personal trainer takes our clientele through a series of static exercise such as squats, lunges, crunches, bicep curls etc., while the EMS device is programmed with their personalized settings to ensure that their unique goals are targeted.

What results can be expected after training with Body20?

With a healthy lifestyle and regular EMS classes, results can be felt after just four weeks and visibly noticeable after 6-12 weeks. Scientific studies have shown a 4% reduction in body fat and a 30% increase in strength over a six-week period. Additionally, 89% of participants reported feeling stronger and fitter. In addition to fat loss and increased strength, other benefits of EMS training include cellulite reduction, relief from back pain, improved posture, correction of muscular imbalances, increased endurance and strengthening of core and abdominal muscles.

What level of fitness does Body20 cater to?

EMS is suitable for all fitness levels and body types, accommodating anyone over the age of 16. Body20 aims to make professional fitness accessible to everyone.
